Architecture Track

Program Description

This track leads to a Master of Science degree in Architecture (M.S. Arch.). This degree program is a non-studio, post-professional research program that prepares students for careers in research, teaching, and consulting. The focus of the program is research in architecture; areas of research include historic preservation, architectural history, sustainability in architecture, and international community planning and design. The program stresses critical writing and research methods. The program takes advantage of its location in downtown San Antonio and a rich heritage of historic architecture and urbanism. The  program stresses critical writing and research methods, which prepare students for careers in research, teaching, consulting, and further graduate study.

Graduate Admission Requirements

Graduate Admission requirements vary by program. Please check your individual degree program for more details.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 1-Semester Pathway: TOEFL iBT 71 or equivalent
  • 2-Semester Pathway: TOEFL iBT 61 or equivalent

To apply for the Graduate Pathway, you must submit the following:

  • Graduate School Application: 2024-2025 and 2025-2026
  • Non-Refundable Application Fee: $90
  • Official TOEFL / IELTS Test Scores / Duolingo  
  • Passport & Confirmation of Financial Resources (after program admission)

  • 80% or above in all non-credit courses
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA in all credit-bearing courses
