UTSA Global Academy offers you the flexibility to learn English at your own pace while maintaining top-tier education, renowned faculty, and rigorous standards of the University of Texas at San Antonio.

All courses include Speaking Practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM CT.

The Global Academy Program is for anyone who wants to:

  • Writing Fundamentals (Intermediate Level)

    In this course, you will explore key concepts related to successful writing. You will be exposed to key sentence structures and grammatical concepts that you can apply to your everyday writing.

    Class Delivery Mode: Self-paced

    You will learn:
    • About parts of speech and how to use them
    • To form a sentence properly with correct punctuation Identify common errors in writing and fix them

 

 


  • English Skills for Academic Life (Low-Intermediate Level)

    In this course, you will gain the basic communication skills you need to attend college in English. Whether you need to socialize with other students or to ask your professor for advice, whether you're reading a novel, writing an essay, or presenting in class, you will learn key language and strategies you need for success.

    Class Delivery Mode: Self-paced

     You will learn:
    • To communicate with others on campus and navigate student life
    • To understand classroom interactions and communicate with professors
    • To build good reading, writing, and presentation skills

  • English for Academic Reading and Writing (Intermediate-Advanced Level)

    In this course, you will explore key concepts related to successful writing for university-level study. You will read scholarly texts and hear from literacy experts to improve your writing skills and get the most from your academic experience.

    Class Delivery Mode: Self-paced

     You will learn:
    • To develop skills to read dense academic texts critically
    • To analyze common genres of academic text to improve both reading and writing skills
    • To identify and apply key steps in a successful writing process

  • Academic Readiness for Undergraduate Students

    In this course, you will learn what it takes to succeed at college, considering a variety of academic, social, health, and lifestyle needs.

     You will learn:
    • To understand your own needs for a successful transition to college life
    • About university requirements and services
    • To listen to students and alumni discuss their college experiences

  • Advanced Speaking

    In this course, you will explore the subtleties of complex natural language in order to interact with native speakers around the world with ease.

    Class Delivery Mode: Self-paced

    You will learn:
    • To understand TV, news, and conversations between native speakers on both familiar and unfamiliar topics
    • To communicate with native speakers with little difficulty and only occasional requests for clarification
    • To read a variety of texts for study, work, pleasure, news, and information

  • TOEFL IBT Preparation

    In this course, you will complete units on speaking, reading, listening, and writing in order to be fully prepared for the TOEFL exam. You will see and hear real-life examples of test questions and become familiar with common question types.

     You will learn:
    • To understand the structure and content of the TOEFL exam
    • To apply proven test preparation strategies to score higher
    • To recognize question types on reading, speaking, listening, and writing exams

  • IELTS Preparation

    In this course, you will learn how to improve your IELTS score as fast as possible. You will hear advice and strategies from experienced teachers and get a chance to practice the most common question types on the exam.
