Global Career Fellows
This workshop series is open to current undergraduate and master’s students (excluding doctoral students) who are either international students or have participated in a study abroad program within the last three years.
While this is not a job placement program, it’s designed to help you prepare for your career by strengthening key professional skills and building meaningful connections. Tailored for students with global experience, the series focuses on:
- Enhancing soft skills
- Building your personal brand
- Developing a career strategy
- Expanding your network, both in-person and online
Valued at $5,000, this program is offered at no cost to students, sponsored by UT San Antonio – Global Initiatives
Upon completion, you’ll receive:
- A digital badge recognizing you as a Global Career Fellow
- A certificate of completion
- Ongoing access to career tools, platforms, and coaching resources

Vision Development: Participants will build a supportive network that aligns with their career vision, fostering a community that supports their professional growth.
College Purpose: Participants will learn to connect their personal interests with potential careers, helping them visualize their future careers.
Brand Development: Participants will understand the connection between their career vision and education, allowing them to align their academic pursuits with their professional aspirations.
Networking Development: Participants will develop a personal, professional message, using their skills, experience, and tools to present themselves effectively.
Raising: Participants will apply their personal vision and professional message to the university environment and their networks, enhancing their readiness for future opportunities.

Attendance Policy
To successfully complete the program and receive both a certificate and a digital badge, participants must meet the following attendance requirements based on their selected track:
- Required Attendance: All five Friday sessions
- Additional Assignment: A 3-hour independent activity, which includes a VMock resume review and a mock interview assignment

- Why should I participate? What are the benefits? You’ll gain essential soft skills, build a professional network, and strengthen your career readiness—all in a global-minded cohort.
- Is there a cost to participate? No, the program is at no cost for UT San Antonio students. While the value of the series is $5,000, it is fully sponsored. Please note that transportation to off-campus sessions may involve additional personal costs, if you choose to drive a personal vehicle.
- Do I need a specific major to apply for the workshop series? No! Students from all majors are welcome. Soft skills are valuable across every discipline. The requirements are to be a UT San Antonio student and to have some experience studying in an international context.
- What if I miss a session? The 5 Friday sessions are mandatory and there may be a makeup assignment/ session available. Check in with the program coordinator.
- I have a full academic schedule—will there be outside assignments or homework? Yes, you will be asked to complete a short exercise after the workshop to apply your knowledge.
- Is follow-up coaching available after the series? While there are no formal coaching sessions, your cohort will serve as your first peer network for continued practice and support. You will be invited to future events, virtual conferences, workshops, and speaker series.
- What is the dress code? Classroom attire is acceptable, but business casual is encouraged to help you prepare for professional settings.
- How many students will be selected? A total of 20 globally minded Roadrunners will be selected. This includes: Ten international students whose global experience is based in the U.S. and who are seeking guidance on how to navigate the U.S. job market, given their OPT and visa requirements and ten study abroad participants who aim to leverage their international experiences to enhance their resumes and career prospects.

During the workshop, you'll engage in thoughtful reflection and discussion around key aspects of your professional identity and career strategy, including:- Career Identity: Who am I in the professional world?
- Passion & Brand: What drives me, and how does that shape my personal brand?
- Value Proposition: What unique strengths and contributions do I bring to the table?
- Networking Strategy: How can I build and maintain connections—both virtually and in person?
- Social Media Presence: Am I using platforms like LinkedIn strategically to support my career goals?
