Regarding postponement of Establishing a Fixed Time Period of Admission and an Extension of Stay Procedure for Nonimmigrant Academic Students, Exchange Visitors, and Representatives of Foreign Information Media:
The Department of Homeland Security 's Final Rule entitled Establishing a Fixed Time Period of Admission and an Extension of Stay Procedure for Nonimmigrant Academic Students, Exchange Visitors, and Representatives of Foreign Information Media, was scheduled to take effect on Sept. 15, 2026, but its implementation has been formally postponed. The rule is not yet in effect. ISSS is monitoring the situation and will update this page when a new implementation date becomes clear.
